COMPULSION.
Compulsion is seen as a really bad thing. Like obsessive compulsion. It’s the first thing you think of when you think of compulsion and it’s got a negative association to it.
I think you can be compulsive without the obsession. I used to be compelled to do things that I don’t give a !@#$ about anymore. Well, that’s my goal; give a !@#%.

Back. Kinda.
Recently I have been: playing the coolest game about an 8 year old boy ever, Earthbound; training like all hell and getting solid strength/power gains and; saving up for that house. It’s coming along.

Last day
(Possibly second last day) of parkour in Toronto. I want better footage which is a motivation to learn quickly. I might hit the Monkey Vault one last time and pick some Feiyues up (soft shoes that I wore at work last month).
When I’m back: training plans for this year on paper, getting my computer back from repairs so I don’t have to use my cell, and making the precision bar...
Back at Cloud Gardens today for a practice session. I officially am out of space on my camera for pictures and videos
Summer Jam, Day... 5 in Toronto?
4 hours training today, and I’m happy I learned what I learned. I have a lot of strengths, and my flexibility is where it needs to be, but I have a few patterns I have to master. This year, wall-runs, vaults and the new form I learned for the handstand will be important. Swings too. Flips are on my list to practice.
Payday will be a construction day. Maybe earlier. I will make pipe...
My entire body is sore
from my neck to the fascia in my feet. All good sore. No injuries, and I’ve been learning a lot this time around.
Parkour race today at Cloud Gardens. Good training session. The traceurs (a word for the parkour athletes) Mish, Steven and Max are people I need to build up to beating. They have to remember my name next year for what I can do. I made a new training program for this year.
More vids, including shots of the races. They’re one person at a time but you’re timed.
walking home drunk
From a friend’s (Katrina Beaudette’s). Keeping this short because I’d like to think I’m sober enough to post this, but long posts are harder to edit. This is an example of the constant supervision I keep ribbing acdavis about. Question; if someone is happier drunk than not, are they a better person then? Assuming they’re not grabby and all.

Trained at the Monkey Vault today. They added some new bars in so you can jump onto a bar, dive into.a swing on another bar and swing into a third pipe which is vertical. They also added some monkey bars. Today was the conditioning day. We did a bunch of challenges. I did really well on the long jump - top ten, at least - and rocked the speedwork too. The kong vault - a vault for distance over an...
Day 3: PKTO Parkour Summer Jam
Just woke up. My foot jammed up yesterday from a precision jump from a height - I was practicing - but it’s healing up quickly. My thigh had a huge impact bruise from a kettlebell (long story involving a cat and 88 lbs overhead) but that’s pretty much healed too. Either I’m the Wolverine or my food/mobility/prehab is working to heal me.
I’m still taking videos and photos....
LA parkour girl
Is starting her own gym in LA for parkour, like the Monkey Vault I’m at. She saw a bleeding cut on my elbow - nothing big, just hit it on wood getting up from an ukemi roll - and she said that parkour had the advantage that sports like football or rock climbing had: you get used to getting scraped up. Injuries aren’t a big deal if they don’t slow you down
2nd day of parkour PKTO summer jam,
Finally training. First day and I’ve trained for 4 hours. First backflips in over a year. Wall runs are sloppy. Cat balancing and bar work is just as good as it ever was. Probably better. Precisions are easy now. Foam rolled and my legs are brutally sore. QL muscles too. Did both splits, swings, rolls, lots of jumps and vaults. Ketllebell juggling was in there too. Time to practice some...
pkto 2: trip down
Car’s brakes broke. Left at 9, got to TO at 8. Rain was so brutal cars were stopping. Bus never came, another hour wait. Looks like I’ll get downtown at 9
Parkour, PKTO Summer Jam '10
I’m posting from my phone for this trip. Been a long trip to Toronto (brakes busted on the way over) but I’m almost there. Parkour!!! I will have pictures soon! And videos! EPIC! LIKE THIS POST!!1

Grants and loft beds.
I’ve decided to apply for grants.
Now that I’m single and caught up on payments for stuff, have functional financial, training, and nutrition plans and kick ass at Call of Duty MW2, I’m finding a lot of free time. I’ve decided to use it to improve on the business next.
On a sidenote, I JUST GOT A REAL BED and my room has been clean for two freaking weeks. No more loft...
Trip to Toronto
madloving:
is officially being planned!
Jealous. I’m heading to TO at least once, possibly twice this month. The Canadian parkour meet - the yearly PKTO meet - is in three weeks :D
:'(
Needs more Jess.
Today reminded me that I have to work on my personality because it’s how I connect with people, and people can help me improve myself.
I really am gonna miss her. I’ll change to remember.
Used to think Oscar Wilde is dry...
Well, he is. But the dialogue in his books was something I never really got into at that point. His dialogue is amazing.
Like a modern day Kevin Smith movie - Clerks, Dogma, Mallrats.
Is it ironic that I used to hate Oscar Wilde’s slow, drawn out narratives and admire Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories and concise intelligence…. But now I can see parallels in the two authors?

On the positive side,
I have a website for training where I can post videos (more on this soon when I get a blog).
I’m single. This was initially a negative but what the hell. Optimism for the win?
I’m saving money well. Worked things out with the debit company so I should get something like 700 back if all goes well. Also, 3 paycheck month, business is alright and I’m actually paying off that loan...
Today was a very sad day.
Feel more alone that I have in a long time. It seems like when I think I’m taking a step forward, I’ve got some tissue paper on my shoe that’s been there for five minutes but you haven’t told me.
Yeah, it’s my fault. I stepped on it. Thank you for reminding me too. Fucker.
HAPPY B-DAY ALANNAH!
Now you’re a year wiser. That’s scary, because, I mean, that’s over 5%.
That is all.

It’s so sad when people have so much great potential to be something, and they refuse to change or move onto better things for themselves, or hold themselves to higher standards. It’s a waste, a letdown, a disappointment. Sometimes even a heartbreak.
Damn. You’re making me feel kinda like a failure. Gotta push again
Iron Man.
I mentioned a functional jetpack for sale in (I think) the US, and a functional power suit for strength and limb function - even for spinal injuries and nerve issues where the limb is not functional. I also just wrote about an EEG. Maybe, just maybe, IRON MAN IS POSSIBLE. Just saying. They tell me the adamantium skeleton thing might be an issue in becoming Wolverine, but… Iron Man is...
EEG
So I found plans for a homemade EEG while doing my nerdy daily research.
An EEG is an electroencephalogram. It can be used to monitor brain signals.
So here it is: Let’s say I come up with a specific mental state I want to keep. Motivation, let’s say. I can quantitatively record how to get there, what states are more or less conducive to this state, what foods and training methods...
Needs more house.
I was in super debt but this month is a three paycheck month, I have 7 clients total now whereas last month I had 4 (regulars, that is) and a backup plan if needed. Looks like I can start going positive soon. My loan will take a huge hit this month. This is good.
Without going into all the details (more like, I went into them and accidentally highlighted and deleted that paragraph), I hate our...
But my
phone works now. I dried it with the battery out. Problem solved.
So my
phone kinda broke last night because I was texting when it was raining really bad. I didn’t care at first because I did it before, and then the keys started doing weird things. I would push a ‘t’ and see a ‘tr’ on my screen, for example. Then, most buttons messed up and the trackball (which functions as a mouse and the ‘enter’ button) failed. I had to shut...

“Unfortunately, what they’re telling you the contestants are doing and what they actually have the contestants doing are two different things, at least as far as my season goes. We were working out anywhere between 2 and 5 hours a day, and we were working out severely injured. There’s absolutely no reason to work a 270 pound girl out so hard that she pukes the first time you...
I just reread some stuff from Pavel Tsatsouline. No one can say he doesn’t have endurance, mobility, strength, power, speed, etc. (not bad for an ex-bodybuilder, too, given bodybuilding’s reputation). I forget the exact quote, but he wrote something to the effect of:
“Kettlebells need focus and attention. If you can’t concentrate enough, you should find a mindless option....
I have a squat rack now!
Consequently I’m broke and have less space in my gym. As long as I have enough space to do mobility drills and skipping I’m happy, I guess.

“Here’s my question: Why were we drilling in 5,000 feet of water in the first place?
Many reasons, but this one goes unmentioned: Environmental chic has driven us out there. As production from the shallower Gulf of Mexico wells declines, we go deep (1,000 feet and more) and ultra deep (5,000 feet and more), in part because environmentalists have succeeded in rendering the...
Big thanks to acdavis, Tamara and Jason for helping me with that storage unit. Big help guys.

Similarly: broke a week from today.

I think that if I talked to children more I might watch my language and be more caring.
Maybe I should. You can’t help but be understanding of someone who doesn’t know better, right?
I don’t know why I go on tumblr anymore. I started to organize some stuff but I’m pretty sure that stuff is organized.
Networking? I’m not meeting anyone new. I can’t find out who these people are.
Info? I like thedailywhat. Do they have a Facebook account? That is all.

Today is Towel Day.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy says that a towel is about the most useful thing ever. Bowl, sling, weapon, peace flag, cleaning tool, potential food storage unit… the list goes on. Best tool to have, so they say. :)
Happy Towel Day!
Decided to get Miyamoto Musashi’s quote about the spirit of winning in one thing being the spirit of winning in another.
Need to work out three things for the gym: a plan for consults including references, preset plans (as examples), etc; a wall devoted to pictures of accomplished martial artists, powerlifters, other athletes, etc. and how they got there and; a couple more clients....
